General Garbage Setout Tips

Try to not set out garbage more than 12 hours before scheduled pickup.

If possible, set out garbage in a container that is approved by your hauler. This will help prevent animals from tearing into and scattering the garbage.

Do not overpack your garbage bags. This will help prevent bag breakage as they are collected.

Do NOT place needles in your garbage. Contact the hospital at 243-3250 for disposal containers.

Do not place household hazardous material in your garbage. A Household Hazardous Waste Program is available for safe disposal. Call us for details.

Do not put warm ashes in your garbage. Make sure ashes are thoroughly cooled and no warm embers are present.

If you are bringing your trash directly to the landfill, it will save you and us,

time if you sort your load before you come.

We do not want any metal in the landfill, so put all metal to the front or back of your load. Remember, there is no charge for scrap metal, so sorting out your metal reduces your bill.

Let us know before you unload if you have any appliances or e-waste (tv's, computers, etc.) in your load. There is a separate fee for these, so we don't want to include this in your solid waste weight.

If you have any questions, just come into the office before you pull on the scale. We're happy to direct you where you need to go and help make this a fast, pleasant experience for you!
