Here are just a few numbers to prove that your efforts DO make a difference!

Last year (2008) we recycled:

28 TONS of Plastic

414 TONS of Newspaper & Magazines

53 TONS of Office Paper

5 TONS of Books

This not only reduces the amount of raw materials used in manufacturing, it also helps us eliminate much of the waste that would be placed in our landfill. Thank you and keep up the good work!!

Plastics #1 - #7

Labels may be left on.

Remove lids.

Rinse inside and out.

Flatten to save room in the recycle bins.

If there is no number (1-7) on the bottom of the item, the item is not accepted.

Plastic bags, styrofoam, and containers that contained oil products (peanut butter, mayonaisse, butter, salad dressing, or oil) are not accepted.



Glass Containers

Can be clear or colored.

Labels may be left on.

Rinse inside and out.

Remove all lids.

Light bulbs and Corning ware are not accepted.



Metal

Labels may be left on cans.

Rinse inside and out.

Crushing is optional, but does save room in the container.



Cardboard

Flatten all boxes.

Brown grocery bags can be recycled with the cardboard.



Newspaper

Must be clean and dry.

Do not bundle or bag.

Whatever comes with the paper, can be recycled with the paper, including ads.



Mixed Office Paper

Must be clean and dry.

Shredded paper, envelopes, and pastel colored paper are all accepted.

Do not need to remove staples.



Magazines

Do not bundle or bag.

Includes catalogs.



Books

Hardcover books can be brought out to the Recycling Center.

Paperback books and phone books may be recycled with newspapers.
