Appliances are banned from disposal in Iowa Landfills. Examples of appliances include (but are not limited to):

Refrigerators

Freezers

Microwaves

Water Heaters

Heat Pumps

Dehumidifiers

Dishwashers

Washing Machines

Clothes Dryers

Stoves

Water Softeners

Furnaces



 They are accepted for disposal at the Cass County for a fee of $15.00. This fee covers the cost of having the unit properly processed according to EPA regulations.

 

Coolant does not need to be drained before the unit is brought to the landfill, but the units MUST be empty of food and garbage.
